Famous English Musician, Former Bass Guitarist Dies at 76 After Recent Fall

An English musician and former bass guitarist sadly passed away over the weekend. On Saturday, January 20th, Jim Rodford died at age 76, reported The Rolling Stone.

Rodford was best-known as a band member of the famous British rock bands “The Zombies” and “The Kinks.” Despite originating in England, both bands toured in other countries and gained popularity in the United States.

According to a post on “The Zombies” Facebook page, Rodford passed away after a recent fall down the stairs. Other details regarding his cause of death are currently unknown.

The post stated, "It is with deep sadness that I learned this morning that my dear cousin and lifelong friend, Jim Rodford, died this morning after a fall on the stairs.”

“Jim was not only a magnificent bass player, but also from the first inextricably bound to the story of The Zombies,” it continued. “An enormous enabler for us.”


Fans and other musicians also paid a tribute to the late guitarist via social media, including a few of his former band members.
