Emma Thompson is bold, and we love it. The 59 year-old "Love Actually" star received one of Britain's highest honors this week, being appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire at Buckingham Palace.
Wearing a suit and white sneakers on the royal red carpet, Thompson clasped Prince William's hands and cheekily asked for a kiss, reveals the star in PEOPLE magazine.
“I love Prince William,” Thompson shared. “I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other. I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No, don’t!'”
“It’s really lovely because I’ve always loved the boys, and I’ve always been a long-term correspondent with their dad,” Thompson added. “It’s a very lovely feeling.”
Thompson has previously shared how she would cheer Prince Charles up with funny letters when he was going through his divorce. “I would get periodical messages from the boys that look after him at Highgrove saying: ‘[Could you] drop him a note because he’s a bit low in the water,’ so I’d pick up my pen and write as funny a letter as I could think of,” Thompson said.
What a fun way to celebrate such an honor. We love Thompson's movies and her sense of humor! Do you agree?
