The Kearney Police Department spurred speculation that endangered teen Elizabeth Thomas and 50-year-old accused kidnapper Tad Cummins are headed north after posting pictures of a man and girl in a McDonald’s restaurant in Nebraska.
The two have been the subject of an ongoing Amber Alert and nationwide manhunt since Elizabeth disappeared from her home in Tennessee with the suspected pedophile about three weeks ago.
But after studying the seven images released by the Kearney Police Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has determined that the people captured in them are not Elizabeth and Tad.
The TBI added that the most recent, confirmed images of the two are still the ones of them at a Walmart in Oklahoma City on March 15, two days after Elizabeth’s went missing.
TBI public information officer Susan Niland said 300 Amber Alert tips regarding Elizabeth are being investigated Monday, according to AL.com.
Tad could still be driving a silver Nissan Rogue with a Tennessee license plate that reads 976-ZPT.
Authorities have continued to release information and images in the hopes that a member of the public will spot them. They’ve advised people to be on the lookout, especially in rural areas and around campgrounds and other places off the grid.
Elizabeth is a 15-year-old white female with blonde hair that may be red now. She has hazel eyes, is five feet tall, and weighs about 120 pounds.
