Search for Missing 5-Year-Old Continues as Cops Question Suspect, Family ‘Overwhelmed, Scared, Saddened’

Prayers are needed for 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley and her family. Shelley has been missing since Saturday morning, May 25th. She was last seen around 2:00 AM that day and reported missing several hours later around 10:00 AM.

According to CBS News, the child’s uncle, 21-year-old Alex Whipple, was visiting the family on Friday evening. When everyone woke up the next day, both Shelley and Whipple were no longer at the home.

Reports confirmed that Whipple was being treated as the prime suspect in the case. He was reportedly questioned about Shelley but made several statements that the police were able to identify as false. He was taken into custody on unrelated circumstances including violating his probation. In 2017, he also received a prison sentence for driving a stolen vehicle while intoxicated.

New photos of the suspect were released on Tuesday morning. The pictures show what Whipple was wearing hours before he allegedly abducted the young girl. Authorities hope these images will help locate Whipple’s whereabouts during other hours close to the time of Shelley’s disappearance. Police are asking that locals check their cameras and smart doorbell systems.

If you or someone you know lives in the area, please keep an eye out for the 5-year-old girl and check your surveillance cameras for signs of the suspect. Prayers for the child would also be appreciated as details continue to unfold.
