In recent days, Hollywood has been the center of multiple sex scandals, which started with the dozens of accusations against an infamous producer—Harvey Weinstein. Since Weinstein, “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey and others in the industry have also been accused of sexual abuse by several women and men.
Another television actor currently facing sexual assault allegations is 30-year-old Ed Westwick, best-known for his starring role as “Chuck Bass” in the hit series “Gossip Girl.” Other than working alongside Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Chace Crawford in "Gossip Girl," Westwick has also starred in "Wicked City," "J. Edgar," and the new comedy series, "White Gold."
Initially, actress Kristina Cohen publicly accused Westwick of raping her three years ago and filed a police report, forcing the Los Angeles Police Department to open an investigation on Westwick. The “Gossip Girl” actor denied this allegation, claiming he had never even met the woman.
Days after Cohen’s claim, another woman came forward, also accusing Westwick of rape in 2014. Aurélie Wynn, who was once pursuing an acting career, shared her version of the story on social media, which was very similar to Cohen’s story.
The separate incidents both reportedly occurred at Westwick’s home, where the women fell asleep and were woken up by Westwick forcing himself on them. Both women also claimed that when they confided in others, no one believed them and were instructed not to say anything to anyone.
Westwick responded to the second accusation on Twitter, insisting that it is entirely untrue. He also assured that he is cooperating with authorities so his name can be cleared.
In wake of these allegations, Westwick’s engagement has been delayed. According to PEOPLE, Westwick was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Jessica Serfaty—a 26-year-old model and actress, who is also a mother to her 9-year-old son from her previous marriage.
The two were reportedly looking at engagement rings in Paris, France weeks before the allegations went public. Although the couple has decided to hold off on their engagement, sources clarified that they are still very much together and in love.
New information regarding the investigation has not been released. This article will be updated accordingly if the LAPD confirms or denies these accusations.
