In recent days, Hollywood has been the center of multiple sex scandals, which started with the dozens of accusations against an infamous producer—Harvey Weinstein. Since Weinstein, “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey, former actor James Woods, and television screenwriter Mark Schwahn are among those in the industry that have also been accused of sexual abuse.
Another television actor currently facing sexual assault allegations is 30-year-old Ed Westwick, best-known for his starring role as “Chuck Bass” in the hit series “Gossip Girl.” Other than working alongside Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Chace Crawford in "Gossip Girl," Westwick has also starred in "Wicked City," "J. Edgar," and the new comedy series, "White Gold."
The young TV star was initially accused of rape by two separate women, claiming the incidents occurred three years ago in 2014. Besides the timing, the accusations contained other similarities, such as the fact that they both reportedly occurred at Westwick’s home.
A third accuser—creative producer Rachel Eck—has come forward, claiming that the television actor “aggressively groped” her breasts at a Hollywood hotel in 2014, stated PEOPLE. Eck’s boyfriend at the time invited her to hang out with him and Westwick, but when she couldn’t bring a friend along, the actor got “handsy” with her.
Apparently, an Australian film producer named Kaine Harling facilitated the most recent accuser’s meeting with Westwick, as well as set up the meeting with Westwick’s first accuser, which has raised suspicions.
The “Gossip Girl” star is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department. However, he denied the rape allegations, ensuring he is cooperating with authorities to clear his name. He has not yet responded to the third allegation as of Wednesday afternoon.
Following the first two accusations, Westwick’s engagement was delayed. As previously reported, he was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Jessica Serfaty—a 26-year-old model and actress, who is also a mother to her 9-year-old son from her previous marriage. Weeks before the allegations arose, they were looking at engagement rings in Paris, France. Sources did clarify that they are still together and very much in love.
New information regarding the investigation has not been released. This article will be updated accordingly if the LAPD confirms or denies these accusations.
