Popular Television Actor Accused of Rape Amid Hollywood Sex Scandals

Since the infamous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of multiple sexual assault incidents by dozens of different women in October, others have gained the courage to share their experiences with sexual abuse. Thanks to accusers coming out, several men have been exposed in addition to Weinstein.

Shortly after the producer’s fallout from the industry, “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey faced multiple allegations. Fellow actor Anthony Rapp previously accused Spacey of inappropriate sexual advances, which led to others coming out against Spacey.

Now, at the beginning of November, actress Kristina Cohen has accused television actor Ed Westwick of rape. Westwick is best-known for his character “Chuck Bass” in the “Gossip Girl” series.

On Facebook, Cohen wrote, “The last month has been incredibly difficult. Like so many women I too have a story of sexual assault, and the outpouring of stories have been both triggering and emotionally exhausting. I’ve gone back and forth over and over again, unsure if I should speak up.”

She continued, “I was sexually assaulted three years ago. It was a dark time in my life. My mom was dying of cancer and I didn’t have the support system or time to process and deal with the aftermath of the rape. I buried my pain and guilt to make space for the onslaught that came after my mom’s death, just three months later.”

According to Cohen, she was dating a producer who was friends with Westwick at the time that the incident occurred. Throughout the evening, Westwick reportedly made certain comments, making her feel very uncomfortable.

Later that night, she grew tired and went to rest in the guest room, where she eventually fell asleep. Apparently, she was woken up by Westwick on top of her, “grabbing her face and shaking her,” when she tried to push him off.

“He raped me,” she said. The Facebook post will not be shown on Faith Family America due to foul language and graphic details.

The man Cohen was dating told her that she was at fault and she could not tell anyone about what happened because her acting career would be over. For years, she held onto that fear, until now.

It has not been confirmed if Cohen’s suggestions are true. Westwick responded to her allegations shortly after the Facebook post went viral, “I do not know this woman. I have never forced myself in any manner, on any woman. I certainly have never committed rape.”
