Some horrible news was just confirmed out of New Jersey. On Saturday, May 25, at least 11 people were injured after a drive-by shooting incident took place.
According to initial reports, the shooting took place in Trenton, New Jersey. Ten people were shot and one other person suffered abrasions.
The Hill reported that at least one person was critically injured, but that all of the victims are expected to survive.
Mayor Reed Gusciora said, “Many young people are afraid to go out in the street because of gun violence. It’s indicative of gun violence across America, there are shootings every day. The federal government needs to address this.”
The accident reportedly took place early in the morning (just past midnight) at Ramoneros Liquor and Bar. When officers responded to the scene, they said that they found injured people both inside and outside the bar.
There were five female victims and five male victims. According to Complex News, the mayor revealed that they are not yet sure whether or not the shooting was gang-related.
He said, “We don’t really have traditional gangs. We have neighborhoods that go against other neighborhoods, and it’s that kind of conflict that arises often in the city, and we expect it’s going to continue, especially in the summer months.”
