Drake’s boy, Adonis, proved that he’s certainly his father’s son.
Mere days after Drake, 36, launched his new album, For All The Canines – wherein the 6-year-old boy made his rapping debut by rapping a couple of traces on “Daylight” – Adonis dropped the complete model of his verse by sharing “My Man Freestyle” on Sunday, October 15.
The music got here with a music video that noticed Adonis, whom Drake shares with Sophie Brussaux, hit the basketball courtroom together with his pals. Adonis does all of it: he offers a motivational speech, helms a post-game press convention together with his dad and even works out within the fitness center to remain in form.
Throughout that fitness center scene – round 02:30 within the video – Adonis reveals off his brand-new ink. The younger boy seems to have a (short-term?) tattoo of his father’s face on his left forearm, a loving tribute to Drake (and a doable nod to his grandfather Dennis Graham.) [Update: A helpful reader pointed out that it’s a temporary design from Inkbox. Sophie, 34, was spotted with a similar design at the start of October.)
The younger boy raps like his dad, mimicking his father’s laid-back movement on the monitor. “I used to be ready for this second to reach,” he spits on the second verse. “I used to be driving within the automobile and I mash my automobile / I used to be enjoying on my iPad and I broke my iPad / I’m going to my home, see my dad / I’m saying hello to my dad and I’ve to go change.” Whereas Adonis’s movement isn’t as verbose as Aesop Rock, Kendrick Lamar or MF Doom, the child has some appeal.

Adonis additionally seemingly references Malcolm Gladwell’s idiom of the way it takes “10,000 hours” to grasp a craft. “Ten thousand days and I do know / Ten thousand weekends and you recognize,” he raps.
In 2017, Dennis Graham received a tattoo of his son’s face on his arm. In August 2022, Drake mocked the now-69-year-old man’s determination to immortalize him like that. “I used to be simply sitting right here pondering why you do me like this we household,” Drake wrote in a now-deleted Instagram publish. The “First Particular person Shooter” rapper shared a close-up of the questionable tattoo for good measure. Nonetheless, Dennis responded, “I like you … Hahaha I had 16 individuals to try to straighten this [tattoo] out. They’re hurting me.”
Dennis received the tattoo to match his son. In 2014, the “God’s Plan” rapper visited Mark Mahoney‘s Shamrock Social Membership and had his father’s mugshot inked onto his arm. So, it seems that fatherly tattoos are a household custom within the Graham family.
For All The Canines, which arrived on October 6, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with 402,000 equal album models (together with 391,000 streaming equal albums.) That is Drake’s thirteenth No. 1 album, breaking a tie he had with Taylor Swift. Drake’s now behind Jay-Z (14) and The Beatles (19) with probably the most No. 1 albums on the chart.
