The Osmond family needs our prayers yet again. According to his Instagram, the youngest Osmond brother just underwent surgery.
The 61-year-old Donny and Marie singer shared that he's now at home recovering from shoulder surgery. He didn't disclose the injury that precipitated the surgery.
He revealed that he was undergoing surgery on Friday in a video on Instagram. He showed himself in a hospital gown and hair net, ready for the surgery.
“I’m here in the hospital. I’m just about to have shoulder surgery. The nurse told me to mark my right shoulder with the word ‘yes’ so they get the right one. Instead of that, I wrote this…” Osmond said before showing his shoulder marked with a bullseye and ‘cut here’ written with a marker.
Hours later, he shared another photo to let people know he was out of surgery. He said he was home recovery.
“My doctor gave me the cold shoulder,” Osmond complained.
While he didn't name the surgery, it seems likely that it's an injury from dancing. He's been dancing consistently with his sister Marie for their Las Vegas show. He also won Dancing With The Stars in 2009.
He wrote, "Turns out dancing accidents aren’t so convenient after all. I’m home after a successful shoulder surgery and settling in for some serious"
Donny's surgery comes a week after his brother Jimmy had a stroke. He suffered the stroke onstage while performing as Captain Hook in a U.K. production of Peter Pan, reported numerous news outlets.
"On the evening of Thursday December 27 after pushing through the evening’s performance of 'Peter Pan' at Birmingham Hippodrome, Jimmy Osmond was driven straight to hospital and diagnosed with a stroke. He is grateful for all the well wishes and will be taking time out in the new year," a rep for Osmond told The Daily Mail.
The 55-year-old singer and youngest member of the band "The Osmonds," reportedly finished the play at the Birmingham, U.K., Hippodrome theater before going to the hospital. He even signed autographs for fans before receiving medical attention.
When Osmond found out he would be playing Captian Hook in Peter Pan, he sent out a tweet.
He wrote, "Excited to be in a panto again and returning to this role of Captain Hook I love letting my inner baddie out, especially in Birmingham at the [Hippodrome] where I have so many memories!"
The Daily Mail reports that Osmond will not be returning to perform in the show, which runs through Jan. 27.
The Birmingham Hippodrome artistic director and chief executive Fiona Allan said in a statement, "Everyone here at Birmingham Hippodrome has been deeply saddened to hear of Jimmy's sudden illness. Jimmy loved being a part of the Hippodrome's well-renowned panto, and his portrayal of Captain Hook was both dastardly and heartwarming. He won the adoration not just of our audiences, but also of all our staff — we all send Jimmy and his family very best wishes for a speedy recovery."
Later, his older sister Marie Osmond tweeted out requests for prayers. Osmond retweeted the Daily Mail article, adding, "Prayers for my brother Jimmy." Donny also shared a sweet photo of him asking for prayers for his brother.
Please join us in praying for a full recovery for both of the Osmond brothers.
