Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a new law that will go into effect across the state of Texas starting on Jan 1, 2016.
Starting New Year’s Day, all lawful citizens of the largest state in the country will be legally allowed to carry their guns openly. The current law says that all firearms must be concealed. According to Fox News, this new law will give the citizens another choice in how they want to carry their weapon. People in Texas will now be allowed to wear their firearms in plain view in a holster on their hip, or shoulder.
Some businesses aren’t happy about the new law and are considering flaunting the law and banning open carry in their establishments. On the other side of the argument are many people who are very happy that they will now be able to better deter criminal acts while protecting themselves and their families.
