Millions of Americans consider their dogs to be important parts of their lives. Most people even consider their pets to be official family members!
As dog owners, we are responsible for caring for our animal and making sure they receive the best food and nutrition. Now, the Food and Drug Administration has just reported a recall that is causing many dog owners to check their dog food bags!
"Nutrisca is voluntarily recalling one formula of Nutrisca® dry dog food due to it containing elevated levels of vitamin D," the FDA reported.
This is a major issue! It can lead to serious health problems in dogs, including renal dysfunction. If your dog is showing any of the signs such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, or weight loss, they may be experiencing symptoms of elevated Vitamin D levels.
The brands now included in the recall list are as follows:
Nutrisca - Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food
Natural Life Pet Products - Chicken & Potato Dry Dog Food
Sunshine Mills - multiple varieties
ANF Lamb and Rice Dry Dog Food
Lidl Orlando Grain-Free Chicken & Chickpea Superfood Recipe Dog Food
Kroger Abound Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe Dog Food
Elm Pet Foods - multiple varieties
Ahold Delhaize - multiple varieties
"Dogs who've consumed too much may experience vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. If your pet has been eating a recalled bag and/or is showing these symptoms, contact your veterinarian immediately," reported Delish.com.
