Disney recently made an announcement that left many Christians devastated. In early May 2018, Disney confirmed that the annual “Night of Joy” Christian Music Festival will no longer be held at Disney World.
The event ran at the Disney theme park in the fall for 35 years since 1983, reported CBN News. Over the years, several top Christian artists have taken the stage including TobyMac, MercyMe, Newsboys, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, and many others.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a spokesperson for Disney revealed that 2017 was the last event. The cancellation took place as a part of “continually changing [Disney World’s] offerings.”
Fortunately for Christian music fans, other Christian concerts will still be held at Disney World during various times throughout the year. At this year’s “Eat to the Beat Concert Series” at the International Food & Wine Festival held at Epcot, hit Christian band MercyMe and new Christian artist Tauren Wells are set to perform at the beginning of September.
MercyMe will perform on September 4th and 5th, while Tauren Wells will put on his show on the 8th and 9th. The event allows for families to try delicious foods while enjoying these live performances.
