On Monday, April 15, some horrible news emerged out of Paris, France. The Notre Dame Cathedral caught on fire and there was extreme damage to the roof and the spire.

Onlookers at the site and hundreds of thousands around the world watched the news as the grand cathedral burned. The holy site is one of the most visited buildings in the entire world.

Now, several wealthy people around the world have rallied together in order to help with the costs for the rebuild. Notre Dame had been under construction for the last few years, and this fire destroyed all of the new renovations.

On Wednesday, the Walt Disney Company joined several others who have pledged money toward the rebuild. They released a statement saying that they would be donating $5 million for the construction.

They wrote, "Notre-Dame is a beacon of hope and beauty that has defined the heart of Paris and the soul of France for centuries, inspiring awe and reverence for its art and architecture and for its enduring place in human history."

They continued, "The Walt Disney Company stands with our friends and neighbors in the community, offering our heartfelt support as well as a $5 million donation for the restoration of this irreplaceable masterpiece."
