Ben Carson continued to stump for Donald Trump on the campaign trail this past weekend, but as with previous comments it was not exactly a glowing endorsement for the candidate that he has chosen to stand with and campaign for.
While appearing on a radio show this past Sunday, Carson said Trump “has some major defects, there’s no question about it, just like the rest of us. But I think he is willing to listen to other people. He may not say that publicly because there is a humility issue there that could perhaps use some polishing.”
The lackluster endorsement didn’t stop there. According to Yahoo, Carson also spoke about the current state of America. “Everybody believes that we are weak,” Carson said. “We are weak on the world stage. We’re not doing things that make sense economically. Right now what we need is somebody who can help restore the confidence of the American people.”
The radio host asked Carson if Trump was that person that could help restore America. “He’s probably the person,” Carson said unenthusiastically. “Are there better people? Probably. But one of the things we have to do is we have to broaden our pool from which we select our leaders.”
One would expect an endorsement to be a strong commentary on why their particular candidate is the best person for the position, but Carson’s comments might be hurting Trump more than they are helping.
