On Wednesday, July 11th, news broke that famous actress Denise Nickerson is currently in the ICU. Nickerson is best-known for her work in the 1970s including her role as Violet in the notable film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”
Additionally, she starred in other movies such as “Zero to Sixty” and “Child of Glass.” She also had recurring roles in “Dark Shadows” and “The Electric Company” and even made an appearance in “The Brady Bunch.”
According to TMZ, Nickerson suffered a stroke that left her in critical condition. The stroke reportedly occurred at the end of June.
Currently, the “Willy Wonka” star is in the recovery process. Fundraising efforts were initiated by her family members through Facebook; they raised $2,492.
“If you have anything at all to donate to my sister and brother in law (Jasmine and Josh Nickerson) so they can ease their mind a bit and spend more time with their mother in the ICU,” one family member wrote. “Anything to get off their plate is greatly appreciated.”
The actress recently celebrated her birthday on April Fool’s Day. On April 1st, she turned 61 years old.
