Olympic Medalist Figure Skater Brutally Murdered at Young Age, Two Suspects Identified

Absolutely tragic news was just reported that a 25-year-old Olympic Athlete was brutally murdered. Figure skater Denis Ten, who won bronze in the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, was stabbed to death on Thursday.

Ten is from Kazakhstan and became the first figure skater from that country to ever win an Olympic medal. Sadly, he was killed on the streets of his country.

According to Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry, two suspects have been identified in this horrible case. According to reports, one has been detained while police are still searching for the other one based on a photograph.

According to TIME, the athlete was killed in the city of Almaty. The two men were trying to steal Ten’s car mirrors, and when he confronted them about it, they stabbed him repeatedly.

Figure skaters from around the world have already reacted to Ten’s death.

Not only did Ten win the bronze medal in the Sochi Olympic Games, he also won the Four Continents championships in 2015 and was a world championship silver medalist in 2013, according to ESPN. His career came to a screeching halt when he began struggling with a series of injuries, putting him far behind others for the Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
