Earlier this week, news broke that award-winning singer and former Disney actress Demi Lovato was rushed to a California hospital. Lovato, 25, was allegedly discovered unresponsive in her Hollywood Hills home.
Although the star has not addressed the situation herself, several sources confirmed that the hospitalization was related to a drug overdose. Initial reports suggested Lovato, 25, overdosed on Heroin.
However, family members later released a statement saying original reports were “incorrect.” As of Thursday afternoon, it is still unclear exactly what Lovato overdosed on.
New, troubling details emerged surrounding Lovato’s drug overdose on Thursday. According to CBS News, Lovato was on a partying “binge” in the days leading up to her terrifying relapse.
The “Sober” singer reportedly found a new group of friends that were believed to be encouraging her partying and drug usage. She was also dating someone new whom her parents were concerned about.
On the day of her overdose, her new friends were the ones who gave her Narcan — a type of medication often used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Authorities noted that this move probably saved her life.
Lovato has been a strong advocate against drug abuse and helping those with mental health problems prior to her overdose. In the past, Lovato has been very open with the public regarding her addiction, depression, and bipolar disorder.
Following her hospitalization, Lovato will go straight to rehab upon her release. Please continue to pray for Lovato as she begins recovery. May God bring her healing and strength during this time.
In breaking news, an AMBER ALERT was canceled following an intense car chase.
