Award-winning singer and former Disney actress Demi Lovato was recently rushed to the hospital following reports of a drug overdose. Lovato, 25, was allegedly discovered unresponsive in her Hollywood Hills home.
Initial reports suggested Lovato overdosed on Heroin. Sources close to her later made a contradicting statement noting the original reports were “incorrect.” As of Thursday, August 2nd, it is unclear what she overdosed on.
In the past, Lovato has been open with her fans about overcoming her struggles with mental health issues and drug addiction. However, the pop star revealed in her new song “Sober” that she relapsed. She was also reportedly on a “binge” in the days leading up to her hospitalization.
As details continue to emerge, loved ones are still very concerned about Lovato’s health. As previously reported, the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer was experiencing complications in the hospital.
In a new update released on Wednesday, July 31st, TMZ reported that Lovato is likely to leave the hospital this week. Given this possibility, it appears that Lovato's health complications have simmered down.
After she is discharged, her friends and family are hopeful that her next steps will include a rehabilitation center. Since the ultimate decision falls on Lovato herself, her loved ones are concerned "she could die" if she refuses rehab.
“She could die if she doesn't, and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing," one of Lovato’s staff members told TMZ.
