President Donald Trump was under major heat by the mainstream media after his controversial comments from a private DACA meeting were released. During the meeting, Trump reportedly rejected a proposal to include the protection of DACA participants in the immigration plan.
According to CNN, a source from the private meeting leaked Trump’s response to the proposal, which was, "Why do we want all these people from 'sh--hole countries' coming here?"
Although CNN and other mainstream media sources took the opportunity to bash President Trump, several Republican names came to his defense including conservative political commentators Mark Dice and Tomi Lahren. Both pointed out that Trump’s remarks had not been confirmed to be true, and even if they were, there was truth to what he said, in their opinion.
Trump issued a response Friday morning, denying that he used that exact language. Although, he did admit that his language was “tough.”
Senator Richard Durbin spoke out against President Trump Friday morning. According to Durbin, Trump made several interruptions during the meeting. He also referred to Trump as "hate-filled" and "racist," and additionally, implied that he was a liar.
Durbin stated, “In the course of his comments, said things which were hate-filled, vile, and racist...I cannot believe that in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any president has ever spoken the words that I personally heard our president speak yesterday.”
“You’ve seen the comments in the press. I have not read one of them that is inaccurate. To no surprise, the president started Tweeting this morning, denying that he used those words. That is not true,” he continued. “He said these hate-filled things and he said them repeatedly.”
