Thank you. Thank you for your time, energy, and love that you poured into raising us. When we were growing up, we didn't know how to appreciate it all. And now, all we can say is: thank you. Even though a million thank yous wouldn't be close to adequate for what you have done, we will keep on saying it because you're worth it.
Thank you for your time. For the bedtime stories, the middle-of-the-night snuggle sessions, and even the discipline. For allowing us to explore our emotions while still guiding us along in a way that formed our characters. For always being right, but pretending that we had better ideas than you did sometimes.
Thank you for leading us. You led not by force, but in love. You led with encouragement at the tip of your tongue and your hand held out to help us along. You led with a gentle spirit but a confident boldness. A tender strength. A powerful grace.
Thank you for being selfless. For putting our needs above your own. For driving us to soccer, ballet, piano lessons, and tutoring. For countless hours of waiting... waiting on our practices, our school, our hangout times. For your patience. For your kindness. For never letting us know you were annoyed about all of the waiting.
Thank you for your prayers. For steering us toward God and always reminding us that we are His children. For turning to prayer when you had confusion. For keeping your eyes focused on God. For allowing us to ask questions for ourselves and encouraging us to form our own relationship with God.
Thank you for support. For always being our number one cheerleader. For always being the loudest fan in the stand. For being the first one to tell us that we did a great job. And for being the first one to tell us to keep on trying when we failed. If it weren't for your consistent encouragement, we wouldn't have been able to achieve the dreams that were in our hearts. We owe that to you, Moms.
Thank you for teaching us. For teaching us how to tie our shoes, brush our teeth, fix our hair. And later, how to write a check, fold the laundry, solve a math equation. More than that, thank you for teaching us life lessons simply by example. As we watched you, we learned. We took note, copied, became just like you.
Most of all, Moms, thank you for your unconditional love for us. Your love alone has shaped us in every way imaginable. Even though it may have been taken for granted sometimes, your love is beyond important to us. It is a safe space. We know that.
Thank you, Moms. You really are the best.
