For the second time in a month, there's a massive beef recall. This time, the tainted beef has already claimed one life. The FDA updated their recall on September 25.

In August, Cargill Meat recalled more than 25,000 pounds of beef due to E. coli concerns. Now, they are issuing another recall for 132,000 pounds of possibly tainted ground beef.

The beef, which has been sold nationwide, is being recalled due to an E. coli outbreak. That's what claimed the life of one person and sickened 17 others, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Cargill Meat Solutions, a division of the agribusiness giant Cargill, is recalling approximately 132,600 pounds of ground beef products. This beef was all potentially made from the chuck portion of carcasses that may have been contaminated with E. coli.

The recalled products have an "EST. 86R" label inside the USDA inspection mark. They were packaged on June 21.

While that was a while ago, the USDA said it's concerned that some of the recalled product might still be in the freezers of consumers.

E. coli is a potentially deadly bacterium. It can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. The symptoms typically occurring 2-8 after exposure to the contaminated food. Most people recover in a week, but there is also a risk of developing kidney failure. This most commonly happens in older adults and children under five.

In August, Publix Super Markets recalled an "undetermined amount" of possibly contaminated beef. 18 people were reportedly sickened in that recall.

On September 25, they released a list of the retailers who have sold the tainted beef. It includes Target, Safeway, and Sam's Club. Here's the full list.
