
Not dead for much longer. Filming has wrapped on the third and final season of Netflix’s hit show Dead to meThe series will continue with new episodes set to debut in the second half of 2022.

The dark comedy, which debuted in May 2019, centers around Jen (Applegate), and Judy (Cardellini), grieving women who form a close relationship in therapy. However, one of the women isn’t exactly who she claims to be and as they grow closer, their secrets begin to unravel, and the bodies begin to pile up.
“I always had the sense that I wanted this show to be a relatively short-running one,” Feldman told The Hollywood ReporterOne month after Netflix’s announcement, August 2020 was the date. Dead to me‘s renewal. “Halfway through shooting season two, an idea came to me that felt very true to the show — and I realized that it could be a really great way to end it. … Sometimes I think I’m making a mistake, letting go of this incredible alchemy we have with Christina and Linda, but it just feels right to me that this is how we should close out the story.”

The COVID-19 pandemic caused multiple delays in production of season 3. The cast and crew were supposed to return to the set in May 2021. “Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS,” Applegate wrote via Twitter in August 2021. “It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported and helped by people I know who have the same condition. It’s been a tough road. The road continues, as we all know. Unless some a—hole blocks it.”
She continued: “As one of my friends that has MS said ‘We wake up and take the indicated action.’ And that’s what I do. So I request privacy. As I go through this. Thank you xo.”
