On Thursday, October 4th, 2018, the family of Dave Anderson announced his passing at the age of 89. Anderson — a famed, longtime sports columnist for The New York Times — passed away at an assisted living home in New Jersey. His cause of death was not specified.
During his writing career, Anderson accomplished much for a sports writer. In 1981, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his outstanding commentary on sports, reported the NY Times. It should be noted that the Pulitzer Prize is rarely awarded to sportswriters; only three have received the honorary achievement since 1970.
Following the sad news of his death, heartwarming tributes for the late writer poured in through social media. Many of his fans were completely devastated.
Please keep Anderson’s friends and family in your prayers at this time. May God bring them peace and comfort!
