The sad news was just confirmed that a well-known director of comedies, Danny Leiner, has passed away. The “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” and “Dude, Where’s My Car?” director passed away after battling a longtime illness.

According to reports, Leiner died on Thursday at the age of 57. He worked on several extremely popular TV shows including “The Office,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Party of Five,” and “Felicity.”

Additionally, he directed several films that some consider to be "cult classics." His 2000 “Dude” film with Ashton Kutcher grossed $73.2 million at the box office.

Producer Ross Putman wrote, “Danny was one of the producers with me on the first real film I ever made; he was not only gracious in sharing the job with some newbies just getting their sea legs, but taught us a great deal in the process. And we collaborated a few times after that, including on the film I just finished- which he helped champion for years.”

Several people have taken to social media to share their grief over Leiner's death. Below are some of the tributes:

Though reports have confirmed that Leiner had been ill for a while, little information has been given regarding his actual cause of death. We will update when those details are confirmed.

Please be praying for Leiner's family during this sad time. Share your prayers here. In other recent news, ISIS just captured 700 people including Europeans and Americans. Please be praying for that situation.
