On Tuesday, November 6, Americans around the nation voted in the midterm elections. Now, the results from the extremely important election are in.

Republicans are cheering now that a former Navy SEAL, Dan Crenshaw, has won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Veteran had been mocked for his war injury just a few days prior to the election.

According to Fox, Crenshaw lost his right eye in an IED attack when he was serving in Afghanistan in 2012. During the “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday Night Live, Crenshaw was mocked for his war injury by Pete Davidson.

While the point of the SNL piece was to make fun of Crenshaw, he ultimately got the last laugh. On  Tuesday, November 6, Crenshaw received a 53% vote in Texas’s 2nd congressional district.  His opponent, Democrat Todd Litton, received 44.4%.

After he found out the election results, Crenshaw took to social media to thank everyone for voting and to talk about what his values would be.

He said, “Texans are hard working, love their country and believe in the American ideal; the greatest set of ideas for a free people that the world has ever known. As a team, that was the message we spread for the last year. Thank you for your dedication and trust. See you in Washington!”
