During Friday’s baseball game, White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar suffered a terrible injury. Now, the White Sox have revealed that the player suffered from a brain hemorrhage during the sixth inning.
According to ABC, Farquhar passed out in the sixth inning. Just before, he had gotten two outs against Houston. After he passed out, medical personnel and EMTs took him off the field, leaving fans in shock and wondering what had happened.
While he regained consciousness, the player was sent to the hospital by ambulance. On Saturday after several tests had taken place, the White Sox team revealed the cause of the incident.
They said that Farquhar had suffered a brain hemorrhage that was caused by a ruptured aneurysm. As of Saturday afternoon, he was in critical but stable condition. According to reports, he was being monitored at Rush University Medical Center in the neurosurgical ICU.
The Chicago White Sox said, “Tests have revealed that Chicago White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage during the sixth inning of last night’s game, and additional overnight testing at RUSH University Medical Center revealed that a ruptured aneurysm caused the brain bleed.”
They continued, “Currently stable but in critical condition in the neurosurgical ICU unit at RUSH, Farquhar continues to receive treatment and close monitoring by Dr. Demetrius Lopez and the neurosurgical team.”
“The White Sox will provide additional updates on Farquhar’s health over the coming days as appropriate, but the club also asks that you respect the privacy of the Farquhar family at this time. Thank you,” they concluded.
After the accident, several other players spoke out. They all said that it came as a shock and that they were wanting to support their teammate in whatever way possible.
