Conservatives Stand Up for Melania After Stephen King Mocks Her Surgery

On Monday, May 14, First Lady Melania Trump had surgery on her kidney. According to her office, she received treatment for a "benign" issue, but she is required to stay in the hospital until the end of the week.

Some on the left have taken her surgery as an opportunity to take a swipe at her husband, President Donald Trump. One of those liberals was bestselling author Stephen King.

King started his tweet by writing, "Not to be snarky." As expected, his tweet was very snarky. He suggested that Melania is using the surgery as an excuse to be away from the POTUS.

He continued, "but Melania can probably use a week’s rest from Blabbermouth Don. Sounds heavenly to me."

Conservatives quickly came to the first lady's defense. The pointed out how inappropriate it was for King to use Melania's serious surgery as a way to attack her husband.

One user tweeted, "That’s nice. Use her surgery as a jab to Trump." Another wondered where civility had gone.

Others bemoaned how they used to like his books, but now they've lost all respect for him. Several said they wouldn't be reading his books anymore.

There were also other people who came to the defense of the Melania. They weren't going to let anyone disrespect our first lady.

Late night host Jimmy Fallon made a similar joke during his opening monologue on Monday night. According to Fox News, he joked that when Melania's doctor told her she could go home "she was like, 'No pressure, make sure.'"

The first lady was last seen in public on Wednesday at a White House event where she and the president honored military mothers and spouses for Mother's Day. She also accompanied President Trump to welcome home three Americans who had been detained in North Korea.

Please continue to pray for the FLOTUS. In other news, conservatives are disappointed after hearing the latest news about "Roseanne."
