Longtime 'Fox News' Correspondent Announces Resignation in Cryptic Facebook Post

August 07, 2018Aug 07, 2018

After 9 years with Fox News, correspondent Conor Powell has officially announced his resignation. Powell made his decision public over the weekend via a Facebook post.

Even after reading the social media post, fans were left confused about the real reasons that Powell decided to leave the network. Many people called his post "cryptic" and "mysterious," thinking that he left out his specific reasons for choosing to leave.

Powell wrote, "After nearly 9 years I have decided to resign from Fox News. Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I am leaving FNC."

He continued, "To my many friends at the channel I wish you the best of luck. If anyone knows of any jobs in media and journalism please contact me. Atia,  Arian, and I will be back in the USA in the coming days."

Powell's most recent assignment was in Jerusalem, hence his announcement about returning to the states. At this point, little information regarding the correspondent's resignation has been revealed. However, sources have revealed that Powell was not happy with the direction of the network.

A source reported that Powell was "uncomfortable with the direction of the news organization in recent months. Fewer news shows. More opinion shows. [Fewer] resources for reporters to report."

They added that there are "lots of reporters" that are "very unhappy with the directions of FNC right now."

As of Tuesday morning, Fox News still has not commented on the resignation.
