A shocking news story has emerged out of Michigan this morning. Officials are warning students that a shooter is on the loose after already gunning down 2 people inside the dormitories at Central Michigan University.
Police alerted students and asked them to "take shelter" as they searched for the shooter. Reports state that the shooter fled the scene on foot.
"CMU police confirm two individuals were fatally shot at Campbell Hall on campus this morning. The deceased are not students and police believe the situation started from a domestic situation. There are no additional injuries; suspect is still at large," according to a tweet from Central Michigan University.
Now, we have a sad update to report. According to local news outlets, the shooter killed both of his parents, including his father who was a police officer.
"The shooting at Central Michigan University today strikes close to home. A sad day in Bellwood and across the 7th District. My sincerest condolences go out to the family of Bellwood Police Officer James Davis Sr. and his wife who were shot and killed this morning. May they RIP," wrote Emanuel Chris Welch on Twitter.
"Sources told the Free Press his parents arrived on campus Friday morning to pick him up for spring break and were shot and killed. Police said they had contact with the student late Thursday night and took him to a local hospital, where he was turned over to the medical staff for what police say they believe may have been some sort of drug-related issue," reported a local news station.
The suspect had apparently been released from the facility this morning, hours before killing his parents. At this time, there is no direct word on a motive. James Eric Davis Jr., the suspect, is listed as a sophomore at the school. Please send your prayers for this tragic situation.
