At the press conference on Wednesday, CNN's Jim Acosta stepped wildly out of line.
During the conference, Acosta rudely questioned President Trump about the migrant caravan. However, when it was time for him to give the mic up so that another reporter could speak, he blatantly refused.
“I think you should let me run the country, you ruin CNN — and if you did it well, your ratings would be much better,” Trump said.
With that comment, the president effectively dismissed Acosta. He attempted to move onto another reporter, but Acosta wasn't having it.
Acosta tried to ask a question about the Russia investigation, and he rudely refused to give his microphone to the staffer, who was just trying to do her job.
“That’s enough,” Trump said forcefully. "Put down the mic."
When Acosta stubbornly refused to give up the mic and continued speaking, President Trump shouted him down.
"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are rude, terrible person,” Trump shot back. “You shouldn’t be working for CNN."
Even after that, Acosta wouldn't give up the mic. He went to object, but then President Trump cut him off.
"The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is horrible. The way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn't treat people that way."
While President Trump didn't comment on it at the time, people on Twitter quickly noticed how rude Acosta was to the female staffer. When she attempted to take the mic away from him, he chopped her arm and pushed her away.
Still, she continued to try to do her job and hand the mic to someone else. Throughout the rest of the video, Acosta is seen shoving her away.
People were outraged by the way that he treated her. Many people said Acosta should lose his press privileges if he's not able to follow the White House rules.
However, while it was clear that Acosta accosted the staffer, the media tried to spin it another way. NBC News reported it as that she tried to pull the mic away from him.
Still others pointed out the similarity between what happened between Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and Michelle Fields. A video came out showing Lewandowski pulling the Breitbart reporter away from Trump. Later, he was charged with battery.
