Hillary Clinton was projected to win the Oval Office in the 2016 election by nearly every poll in the country. When President Trump upset her in a crushing defeat, many wondered if this was the last time Hillary would ever step foot in the public arena.

Since the election, Clinton has remained relatively quiet. She has made a few appearances and has teased the idea of running again in 2020. She has also been vocal about her disagreements with President Trump's administration and policies.

Now, she is finally speaking out about her plans to potentially run in 2020. Many Americans, especially her close supporters, felt she was definitely going to throw her hat in the ring once again. However, it appears she won't be running after all.

“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” she told New York’s News 12this link opens in a new tab in an interview that aired Monday.

She went on to say that she wants to continue fighting for what she believes in but she doesn't see herself running again for public office.

“I want to be sure that people understand I’m going to keep speaking out,” she said. “I’m not going anywhere. What’s at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me. And I’m also thinking hard about how do we start talking and listening to each other again? We’ve just gotten so polarized. We’ve gotten into really opposing camps unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my adult life.”

The race for the White House in 2020 is sure to be a tough battle. Even among the Democratic Party, numerous leaders have already announced their intentions on seeking the party nomination. It is sure to be highly contested.
