The friends, family, and fans of late female singer Christina Grimmie are heartbroken after learning of her mother’s passing. Grimmie’s mom, Tina Grimmie, sadly died of cancer just two years after the young vocalist was murdered.
In June of 2016, Christina, 22, was fatally shot by a crazed fan after her concert performance in Orlando, Florida, reported PEOPLE. The star initially rose to fame with her YouTube videos and gained further popularity on the sixth season of “The Voice.”
“We are saddened to announce the loss of our beloved Tina, also affectionately known as ‘Mama Grimmie’ to the millions of fans of Christina Grimmie around the world. She will be missed immensely,” the family confirmed in a statement.
Although this has been a difficult time for the Grimmie family, they are rejoicing that “Tina and Christina are united once again in the presence of our Lord and Savior.” The family is also utterly grateful to Christina’s fanbase for their love and support; they sent blessings and thanks to all of her encouraging fans.
