It's the story of one of the most famous cake shops in America. A man in Colorado has made headlines for the past few years thanks to his strong stance on his Christian morals and his refusal to bake a cake for same-sex weddings.
Now, he is being sued for a third time. This incident comes after Jack Phillips refused to bake cakes for a "gender transition" party that was taking place.
"Phillips describes himself as an artist who uses cakes as 'canvas' to express ideas and celebrate events. He has insisted he doesn't want to do something that goes against his faith. He said the cases against him have directly affected his family and business and he's faced death threats and harassment," reported Fox.
The United States Supreme Court handed down a winning ruling to Phillips last year after he denied customers based on a same-sex wedding. Now, the Colorado civilc Rights Commission has filed a complaint against him and says the court showed "anti-religious bias" during this proceedings.
Autumn Scardina, a transgender woman, is now spearheading an effort to bring the Christian baker down. He claims he was denied a cake by Mr. Phillips after requesting to have one made for his "gender transition" event.
A member of the senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom has just spoken out about the latests development.
"So this latest attack by Scardina looks like yet another desperate attempt to harass cake artist Jack Phillips," Cambell said. "And it stumbles over the one detail that matters most: Jack serves everyone; he just cannot express all messages through his custom cakes," said Jim Campbell.
Sadly, the legal troubles continue for Mr. Phillips. We will bring you details on this case as they come in. Please join us in praying for him, and his bakery.
