In recent days, Hollywood director James Gunn has been the center of a massive controversy. Gunn, best-known for his work on “Guardians of the Galaxy,” was abruptly fired by Disney Studios over his offensive tweets.
Although his tweets were from almost a decade ago, many felt his actions were unforgivable. The inappropriate tweets, which were resurfaced by conservative voices, referenced sensitive topics like pedophilia and rape in a joking manner.
Following Gunn’s firing, Christian actor Chris Pratt released a shocking statement in support of their director. The letter was signed by Pratt and several other cast members including Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, and Vin Diesel.
"We fully support James Gunn. We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these ten days to respond in order to think, pray, listen, and discuss," Pratt began. "In that time we have been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as director of Volume 3, as well as discouraged by those who were so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories around him."
The cast assured that they were not defending his actions, but instead defending his “redemption.” Ultimately, their hope is that Gunn be reinstated as director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.

Following the statement, Pratt came under fire. Many of his fans responded to the post saying they were “disappointed” by him and the rest of the cast members for supporting Gunn.
Gunn’s actions somewhat resemble those of Roseanne Barr earlier this year. The conservative star posted a tweet that was deemed racist towards Valerie Jarrett. Unlike the Gunn scenario, liberals did not express their support for Barr.
