Chris Watt Makes First Court Appearance, Devastating Details Revealed in Shanann Watt’s Case

Earlier this week, authorities from Frederick, Colorado were frantically searching for a pregnant mother of two — 34-year-old Shanann Watts — and her young daughters: Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. Shanann’s husband, Chris Watts, publicly pleaded for his beloved family’s safe return during media appearances.

However, in an unexpected twist of events, Chris confessed to murdering his wife — who was 15 weeks pregnant with a baby boy named Niko — and their two girls. Chris allegedly told police where their three bodies could be found; their remains were recovered by authorities on Thursday, August 16th.

As previously reported, Chris was arrested on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with physical evidence. Following his arrest, he also made his first court appearance on Thursday.

Several new details regarding Shanann’s case were revealed during Chris’ court appearance. The most devastating detail of all: the murder likely occurred inside of the family’s home.

In the courtroom, the judge also confirmed that all charges will officially be filed on Monday, August 20th. Until that time, Chris is not eligible for bail.

Chris’ attorney has requested the courtroom be sealed from the media over concerns of his client having a fair trial. The affidavit was also sealed but is expected to be released to the public eventually.

Chris’ next court appearance is set for Tuesday, August 21st at 10:00 AM local time after the charges are filed. An autopsy is expected to be conducted in upcoming days to determine the cause of death of Shanann and her young girls.
