Chris Rock discussed Will Smith’s assault on him for the first times since Sunday night in front a comedy club audience.
“How was your weekend?” According to Variety’s clip he said this to the audience. “I don’t have a bunch of sh*t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still sort of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that sh*t. And it will be serious and funny.”
Somebody then yelled, “F*ck Will Smith!” and Rock responded, “I’m going to tell some jokes. It’s nice to just be there.”
Smith has apologized to Rock, but Tony Rock, his brother, says that the men are still not right.
Smith wrote that jokes at my expense are part and parcel of the job. However, a joke about Jada’s health was too much for him to bear so he reacted emotionally. Chris, I would like to publicly apologise to you. I was out of control and I was wrong. I am ashamed of my actions and they are not indicative of the man that I want to become. In a world of love, kindness, and compassion, violence is not permitted.”
