Reports were just confirmed that one is dead and at least 17 were sickened after eating a type of chicken. The Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service just issued a health alert about the product that was sold for the last 10 months.

According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control, one person has passed away in New York and 17 others have been reported as ill across four different states with salmonella poisoning. The issue is over Empire-brand Kosher chicken.

The salmonella outbreak took place in four different states including New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. According to NBC, the 17 people sickened with salmonella range in ages 1 to 76.

On August 24, the FSIS issued a health alert about the Empire Kosher chicken. Now, after multiple cases of illness were reported, they issued another one and strengthened their warning.

According to reports, the chicken items, including raw whole chicken and raw chicken parts, were produced and sold within a ten month period between September 2017 and June 2018.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control have both issued strong warnings regarding the product. They are urging customers who still have the product to throw them out, or, at the very least, to follow the cooking instructions precisely.
