Chick-fil-A, a popular fast food chain widely recognized for supporting conservative Christian values, is considering some massive menu changes. According to Business Insider, the restaurant may roll out vegan items in the near future.
"We're definitely aware, and I would say we're always interested in, what's happening in food," Amanda Norris, the executive director of Chick-fil-A's menu, revealed to Business Insider. "Specifically ... a vegetarian option or a vegan option is something we're looking at, we're thinking about, and have some [research and development]."
"We've kind of been watching it, and now we are moving more from the watch stage and getting into that understand, or really imagine stage," Norris added.
Currently, customers who avoid meat have the choice to order certain items without the chicken. There are also a few meatless salads available. However, Chick-fil-A is considering adding a meat substitute.
Although vegans and vegetarians may be rejoicing, other customers are slightly disappointed in Chick-fil-A’s possible new move. After all, what is Chick-fil-A — famously known for “inventing the chicken sandwich" — without the chicken?
Chicken lovers responded to the news with “uh-oh's” and “NOOOO’s.”
Stay tuned for details! If Chick-fil-A’s research and development stage has positive results, vegan options are sure to appear on their menu for testing soon.
