Early this week, singer and actress Cher took to Twitter to mock White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders' fashion sense.
In a snarky tweet, Cher shamed Sanders for the way she dresses on a daily basis. Cher's tweet read, “Would someone please tell Sarah Huckabee Sanders to stop dressing like a sister wife.”
Along with the tweet, Cher included a photo two women in stereotypical clothing "sister wife" clothing. The women have their hair in braids, and they are wearing plain lace-up shoes and high-neck dresses with long sleeves and puffy shoulders.
Twitter users on both sides of the aisle were displeased with her comments. One user pointed out Cher's style is also questionable. The Twitter user included a photo of the 71-year-old performing at the 2017 Billboard Awards where the singer performed in a barely-there diamond ensemble with a sheer and sequin bra and blonde wig.
Cher, who apparently doesn't know when to let something go, responded to the user, “Could You Any WEAKER (be) I’ve had ppl say nasty things about me & my clothes for 53 yrs. Some days Lead, Some Days Feathers. Are you such Princess’s that a stupid joke gets your knickers in a twist You dislike/Hate me,& I Don’t care. Perhaps Walmart’s Sells backbones.”
Others were quick to chime in and criticize Cher for the jab.
One Twitter user had an especially pertinent criticism. She pointed out that Cher, who was vocal in the Women's March, shouldn't be going on Twitter to criticize another woman's fashion sense.
"Plus, you were such a huge voice during the rally, and by ridiculing Sarah's taste in clothes totally discredits the msgs you were trying to convey. Women are much more than how they look. And here you're judging her...c'mon Cher!!!"
Cher replied with vitriol: "She’s rude, and she lies‼️theres no special dispensation for a woman who’s a b****."
This isn’t the first time that Sander’s style has been debated in the media. People have widely told her she looks like a soccer mom and others have criticized her makeup.
