The sad news was just reported that an inspiring Opera singer who won over the heart of a nation has passed away. Charity Tillemann-Dick, the 35-year-old Opera singer who had received two sets of transplanted lungs, has passed away.
According to CBS, the singer developed idiopathic pulmonary hypertension at the age of 20. Doctors found that oxygen was not being absorbed properly by the body, making her heart work "overtime."
In 2009, Charity received her first emergency lung transplant. Later, her body rejected her new lungs and she was in need of another transplant.
In 2012, Charity said, "Organ donation, in certain respects, it brings us closer to immortality. Because literally a part of us goes on living after we're gone."
Though she experienced many hardships, her family said that she always maintained her good sense of humor.
Charity said, "It's each of our dreams to spend our lives with the people- with the thing that we love most- and I'm so grateful to be given another opportunity to sing and to share. And it brings me more joy than I can express. And I express a lot of things so that's saying something!"
Charity's husband revealed the sad news through a heartbreaking sentence.
He wrote, "She passed away with family by her side and sunshine on her face."
Adirenne St. Clair said, "I'm so sad. I feel the ache of heartbreak, though I feel like I'm not allowed to feel this sad, because I know so many people are hurting so much more. The world has lost Charity Tillman-Dick. Her middle name is Sunshine, and it couldn't be more appropriate."
