On Monday, May 14, First Lady Melania Trump underwent surgery for kidney problems. The surgery as a surprise to the American people, who flocked to social media to share their prayers and good wishes for her speedy recovery.
She underwent kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, DC. Later in the day, President Trump visited her and said she was doing well.
Her office described the condition as "benign" but requiring medical attention. Later, they shared that there were no complications in the surgery.
People from both sides of the political aisle—from politicians to celebrities to ordinary Americans—took to Twitter to wish her well.
Among the politicians were Vice President Mike Pence, Senator Schumer, and Senator Jeff Flake. The White House official page also chimed in. Likewise, Alyssa Mastromonaco, Obama's former White House Deputy Chief of Staff, added her well wishes.
World leader's also added their words of support. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also tweeted out his well good wishes.
