Country music sensation Carrie Underwood, who first rose to fame on “American Idol,” is currently promoting her latest album “Cry Pretty.” As a part of her album promotional efforts, she is scheduled to make several upcoming media appearances over the next few days.
One of her appearances was a small concert on the TODAY show, which was scheduled to take place on Friday morning. However, the concert was abruptly canceled due to TODAY’s continuous coverage of Hurricane Florence. Florence made landfall on the East Coast early Friday.
“Due to NBC News’ ongoing coverage of Hurricane Florence, the concert with Carrie Underwood originally scheduled for tomorrow, September 14, on the TODAY plaza has been canceled,” the TODAY show announced on social media.
“Will miss seeing everyone tomorrow morning but keeping everyone affected by Hurricane Florence in our prayers,” Underwood added in a message to her fans. “Please be safe out there.”
Fortunately, fans can still catch the country star in other public appearances. She was a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Thursday evening, the “Bobby Bones Show” Friday morning, and is set to appear on Ellen DeGeneres’ show next week.
This news comes shortly after fans congratulated Underwood over an exciting announcement on her music career.
