Caridi acted as Carmine Rosato in the first sequel of "The Godfather." According to TMZ, the actor was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A. in April after taking a "nasty fall." After nearly a month, he became ill with pneumonia.
The news site reported that doctors had told the actor he could go home over the weekend. However, on Saturday, his health began to rapidly decline.
Throughout his acting career, Caridi appeared in over 100 TV and film credits. Some of his most notable roles were in "Starsky and Hutch," "Taxi," "Fame," and "Simon & Simon." Additionally, he acted as Det. Vince Gotelli in "NYPD Blue."
