France is fashion-forward! The 2022 Cannes Film Festival is officially underway, and celebrities have no qualms about displaying their best looks on France’s Riviera.
For the film industry’s biggest event, which runs through Saturday, May 28, stars debuted a plethora of trends, including sparkles, vibrant colors, structured silhouettes and cutouts — providing the perfect summer wardrobe inspiration.
Tuesday, May 17, 2009 Lori Harvey made her Cannes debut, channeling Disney’s “Belle” in a yellow, ruffled gown by Alexandre Vauthier at the screening of Final Cut (Coupez!).
“Felt like Belle last night at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony! Truly a night to remember,” Harvey, 25, captioned a slideshow of images from her big night on Instagram.
Harvey’s sunny look featured a strapless construction and was finalized with a layered skirt. Harvey was styled by Maeve, a celebrity stylist. The dress was complemented by diamond earrings and a matching necklace by Messika Paris. Shiny gold pumps were worn on her feet.
As the festival approached, yellow was clearly the most popular color. Viola DavisThe hue was also featured in a Alexander McQueen number. The bright off-the shoulder gown featured a corset and a billowing skirt. Davis, 56, looked radiant. This year’s festival is a big one for Davis as she’s set to be honored with the 2022 Women in Motion award on Monday, May 22.
Anne HathawayAlso, she made her Cannes debut and glowed on the carpet to premiere her new drama. Armageddon Time, in a two-piece sequin Armani Privé gown. Hathaway’s look was finalized with dramatic sleeves that were equipped with a train that cascaded behind her.
A few black dresses are a must for any red carpet.
Supermodel Adriana LimaShe gave the trend a twist at the screening of Top Gun: MaverickOn Wednesday, May 18, she was seen in a striking Balmain gown that exposed her pregnant belly. The cutout dress featured draping at the skirt, arms and bodice. Lima, 40, is expecting her first child together with her boyfriend. Andre Lemmers,The classic black sandals completed her look. The Instagram star shared a photo and was highly praised for it. RihannaShe was a belly-out rocker throughout her pregnancy and helped to open the door. “Thanks @badgalriri for opening the door,” Lima wrote on Instagram.
