“Fuller House” star Candace Cameron Bure recently released her newest Christian book, “Kind is the New Classy.” Faith Family America writer Alex Olsen had the privileged opportunity to interview Bure following the release of her latest project, in which the actress revealed several light-hearted details regarding her personal journey with Christ.
In the interview, Bure told FFA her love language (as well as her husband’s), her typical go-to Bible verse, and one of her favorite worship music artists — key details her Christian fans have been anxious to know.
Q: In your book, “Kind is the New Classy,” you mention how the five Love Languages are one way we can show hospitality. I’m sure many of your fans are eager to know — what is your love language?
“My love language is words of encouragement,” Bure revealed. “I love words; I think that stemmed from my childhood and being an actress. I longed for the days of the director saying, ‘That was really great! Good job!’ I still love hearing those words today.”
Q: What is your husband’s love language and how do you two fulfill each other’s love language?
“I’m still trying to figure out my husband’s love language because I feel like it bounces,” she answered with a giggle. “He definitely likes quality time — I know that one is super important to him.”
Candace and her husband Val, like the majority of married couples today, have to work hard at fulfilling each other’s love language since they are so different from one another. Sometimes, she needs to remind her husband of how she feels loved with encouraging words; she also admitted to striving to make quality time a priority in her marriage.
Q: Do you have a favorite Bible verse or “go-to” worship song right now?
“When I read the Bible, it’s always like every day, ‘This one stands out to me today, this one stands out to me tomorrow,’ because I think as we walk through life that’s when God’s speaking to us. He can really highlight [a verse] in a new way even though we’ve read it maybe hundreds of times,” she began.
“One of my go-to verses, which I think is so many people’s go-to verse, is in Philippians [4:13] ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ I genuinely stand on that all the time,” the actress noted. “Whenever I’m fearful of something, when I’m challenged by something, even if it’s being challenged to choose kindness in that moment, that’s the scripture that constantly runs through my head...I can make this choice right now because He will give me the strength to make this choice [of kindness].”
Although Candace couldn’t decide on her all-time favorite worship song, she did mention that she loves Matt Maher’s music. Some of Maher’s most popular songs include “Lord, I need You,” “Your Love Defends Me,” and “Your Grace is Enough.”
In a separate interview with Faithwire, Bure also shared three of her other favorite Bible verses about kindness. Many of these verses she discussed were referenced in “Kind is the New Classy.”
