“Fuller House” star Candace Cameron Bure is well-known for her outspoken Christian faith. In the past, Bure has made national headlines for her openness about God and Christianity including revealing Jesus' impact on her family and wearing Biblical clothing.
Recently, the actress spoke on prayer calling it an “open dialogue with God at any time of the day or night.”
More specifically, Bure responded to those who mock the value of prayer and faith in God’s power in times of tragedy. Following a series of school shootings in the past year, a common message was being circulated that “thoughts and prayers” do nothing.
Bure had a bold, Biblical response for those who believe that. Her remarks come from a 2017 interview with Faithwire.
“It bothers me and I feel sad for the people that write it, because the first thing I think is, ‘Well, they’ve never experienced the power of prayer. They just don’t know,’” Bure stated. “Prayer, for me, is always where you start. That’s the start of your solution. Then, yes, you take action, you go beyond that.”
“If you don’t start with [prayer] there’s no power behind it, because God’s the power,” she added. “God can do anything, change anything — change hearts. It’s the heart of all of us that need to be changed and that’s where God has to get in.”
