13 Reasons Why, a newly released original Netflix series, has been the subject of a major controversy lately. Candace Cameron Bure, Christian and conservative actress best known for her role on ‘Full House’ and ‘Fuller House’, gave her opinion on the series.

The show follows a teenage girl named Hannah Baker who struggles with depression. Her friends discover and listen to Hannah’s tapes outlining the 13 reasons why she commit suicide. The show depicts very graphic and disturbing scenes including rape and a detailed scene of Hannah killing herself in the final episode.

However, Candace does not agree with the negative remarks against the show. Instead, she is using it as a ‘conversational piece’ with her children. She mentions in an interview with E! News that her and her kids will have a talk after she finishes watching the show.

Selena Gomez, singer and actress and one of the producers of the show, also believes the show can be used a conversation piece for parents and children. At the end of the series, Gomez discusses the importance of seeking help when you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts.
