Candace Cameron Bure, actress and best-selling author, recently did an exclusive interview with Faith Family America writer Alex Olsen on her latest book, “Kind is the New Classy.” The inspirational piece greatly focuses on the importance of kindness in our world today, but it also touches on Bure’s personal faith testimony.

Bure, a fan-favorite Christian voice, wasn’t shy about sharing some of her tips for keeping Christ at the center of her life. In addition, Bure also revealed how her and her husband, Val, keep Christ at the center of their marriage.

Q: What type of things do you have in place to ensure you have a strong relationship with God?

Ultimately, Bure mentioned two specific things she does regularly to assure her relationship with God doesn’t deteriorate amidst her busy lifestyle: morning prayer time and fellowship.

“Rolling out of bed in morning prayer time is a must,” the actress stated. “If that doesn’t happen and I miss that first thing in the morning, I can tell you it really has an effect on the rest of my day, but it’s very rare that I don’t have that quality time. And the truth is for mornings it’s like three minutes long and then some mornings I might have an hour to spend. It depends. But I never lose that connection throughout the day. Whether I spend 5 minutes or 5 hours with God...it’s a constant dialogue. That’s what the relationship [with God] is.”

“I also have wonderful people around that I connect with whether it’s my weekly Bible study or going to church or just girlfriends that I talk to on a regular basis that we encourage one another...prayer requests...those are all things that ensure my relationship with [God] and make sure I’m staying focused on what matters,” Bure continued. “My biggest priority [is] knowing Him and glorifying Him with my life.”

Q: How do you and Val make sure that Christ is at the center of your marriage?

Candace also practices prayer time and fellowship with her husband to ensure their relationship with God is strong together. The actress also got real about how, sometimes, one spouse is lifting up the other — a relatable concept in many Christian marriages today.

“Everyone’s relationship with God, it’s individual,” she began. “Sometimes [Val and I] grow at a different rate or a different pace. Sometimes there are seasons when one of us is clinging to God more than the other person and those are all natural ways in life. I think when you’re a married couple and God is the anchor to the marriage, we’re there to help one another and refocus one another. My husband’s great at doing that for me when my priorities get off balance. He’s there to remind me of those things and I’m there to remind him of that.”

“That’s really the purpose of marriage — we love one another, we have a friendship that we grow until the end of our lives together,” Bure added. “But really our partnership is to refine one another to be the best we can before God.”
