Luxury sports cars are a thing of beauty. Lots of collectors simply enjoy looking at the incredible machines possibly even more than they do when they're actually behind the wheel. The cars truly are a work of art.

While they are expensive, one particular car has just made headlines. It is sold by Bugatti and has juts been crowned the most expensive car on the planet. You'll be shocked when you learn how much it really costs!

"La Voiture Noire, which is French for The Black Car, was the automaker’s 110th birthday present to itself, but it was more than happy to sell it for $18.9 million after taxes and fees were added to its 11 million euro base price," reported Fox News.

The vehicle is simply magnificent. It is extremely rare and a true one-of-a-kind machine. We have a feeling that whoever buys this won't be out driving to the grocery store in the car.

"Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, the coupe is based on the brand’s $3 million Chiron supercar, and features a 1149 hp quad-turbocharged W-16 engine. Its carbon fiber body was designed to evoke the styling, as best it’s modern shape can, of the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic," according to reports.

The vehicle has tons of power. It reportedly tops out at 261 MPH. The unique shape is thought to aid the car in going super fast and preventing wind resistance.

"The buyer has only been officially described as a 'Bugatti enthusiast,' but is rumored to be former Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piëch, who spearheaded the resurrection of the Bugatti brand when his company purchased it in 1998," wrote Fox.
